My name is Rein Urbel and I was born in 1947, in year of the Pig and in zodiac of the Virgo.

I went at 5th High School of Tartu (nowaday is this school name Gymnasium of Tamme).

I started with photography due to my classmates. I went at school´s photoclub and soon I got responsibility to take photos about the best of schoolchildren. These pictures were on the "hall of honour" wall. So I did three years.

After High School I worked as a photographer in the Institute of Animal Sciences. Later I was there as head of photolaboratory.

After Institute of Animal Sciences I worked almost 10 years at the Kullman´s Vocational School as a photographer. In this school I led a photoclub and helped school´s sound technician. During this period I worked also at the Academy of Agriculture as photoclubs´s leaders trainer. Two of my students are now professional photographers.

In 1976 to 1983 I was member at Photoclub of Tartu. These period I had new job at Youthhouse "Sõprus" and I worked there until this house finished its activity.

After Photoclub of Tartu I and my friends created new photogroup "Ah?". I could use quite good rooms for photography therefore I could worked as a studiophotographer.

In 1995 I got job at Theatre of Vanemuine. There was hard-working and it lasted few years. In additional I worked as lector of photography at Eurouniversity.

In 2002 four people created New Photogroup O.V.E.R: "O" as Oodet Oksa, "V" as Vladimir Leiman, "E" as Endel Annuk and "R" as Rein Urbel. At the moment (in 2016) are there 8 members and I am head of this group.

From 2007 to 2018 I was  tutor of Photoclub of Tammelinna in Tartu City Library.

From 2012 I am as curator and I organize photo exhibitions at Ruuni pub in Tartu towncentre street of Rüütli. This opportunity makes me personally very happy, because nowaday is very difficult to bring people to watch exhibitions. That means that exhibition has to bring to people!

I have participated in several exhibitions since 1967 and received awards.
